Carved Barramundi Dreaming

This is the root of the Mallee Eucalyptus Tree that has been eaten out by whiteants. The time required to eat through the didgeridoo is approximately 100 years from start to finish. This particular didgeridoo takes about 9 days to complete. The work involves peeling of the bark, carving of the didgeridoo, then several layers of lacquer are applied to protect the didgeridoo. It is recommended to pour cold water into the inside of the didgeridoo every 2 months to maintain the purest quality of sound.The distinctive bell on the bottom is a rare feature that adds richness to the playing sound of the instrument. The barramundi is a Totem of an Aboriginal tribe from the top of Australia. The value of this didgeridoo lies in the fact that each new carving is unique, and although the design will be the same, the look of the bell and the branch will be one of a kind custom shaped by mother nature herself.
